  • FIBA in the Americas holds Sub-Zones Annual Assemblies

ORANJESTAD (Aruba) – The Central American & Caribbean Basketball Confederation (CONCENCABA), and its respective sub-zones, Central American Basketball Confederation (COCABA), and Caribbean Basketball Confederation (CBC) held their meetings this past Saturday, March 9th, and concluded Sunday, March 10th in Aruba.

FIBA Authorities present during the assemblies included the FIBA Secretary General, Mr. Andreas Zagklis, Mr. Zoran Radovic, Sr. Director, President of FIBA in the Americas, Mr. Fabián Borro, and the Executive Director of FIBA in the Americas, Mr. Carlos Alves.

The meetings started on Saturday with the CBC and COCABA assemblies and finalized on Sunday with the CONCENCABA assembly. Some of the topics discussed included:

  • Updated on strategy for FIBA from 2023-2027
  • Ratification of competitions calendar and hosting opportunities for the region
  • The Roadmap to the 2024 Olympics
  • The Continental competitions in the Americas

One of the key objectives and discussions was the FIBA AmeriCup 2025 to be held in Managua, Nicaragua, as well as the continued growth of 3×3 throughout the region and the 3×3 FIBA AmeriCup to be held later this year in Puerto Rico.

President Mr. Borro said, it is inspiring to see the growth of our National Federations in the Caribbean and Central America. We saw a great evolution since our last assemblies a year ago. I’m excited with the opportunity to keep growing our sport in the Americas and around the world.
